BAND Under the direction of Mrs. Carolyn B. Morse, the Hermon-DeKalb Central Band began the year with twenty-seven members and added ten members during the year. Our activities included marching in the Halloween par- ade, and playing for the Christmas program at Hermon. We played at several basketball games held at the Hermon gym. At the close of basketball season we played at the Semi- final games and marched at the finals, in the Appleton Arena. A concert was held in May and we also attended the May Festival at Potsdam. As usuql the band mapch d op Memorial Day. The band ended the season by playing at the elementary school and junior high school graduation exercises. Senior Chorus The Senior chorus sang in the Christmas program at DeKalb and at the joint Christmas student assembly held in Hermon. In May the chorus attended the NYSSMA Festival, an annual event in Potsdam, Later this spring they participated in the spring concert. The girls trio, a smaller unit of the organization has sung for different programs including the Christmas assembly, athletic banquet and spring concert. Members of the group are, Martha Elsey, Shirley Hance, and Judy Mead.

We drew up a school calendar of activities so that no two activities will be, scheduled on the same date So far it has been successful . . . ' . . ; -. Committees were appointed and joint assembly programs were held for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter. Th’e design for the school flag was drawn by Douglas Brownell. Mrs, John Bishop will make the flag, Donald Clafiin and Eva ot0 John were delegates to the Student Council meeting a Gouverneur, Richard Griffith is now working on a bulletin board for each school»
