In November, Doris and Harley Merlthew joined us and we were fifteen strong Our class officers were: Joanne Kentfield, President; Jim Sayer, Vice-President; Martha Elsey, Secretary; and Jane Griffith, Treasurer. Our class advisor was Mrs0 Desmond Sophomore: The following September when we assembled, the group seemed very quiet — Olen (Rip) Bristol had left us for Heuvelton Central In December, the clamor began again, Rip got lonesome and returned to our class. Mrs, Bigelow was our advisor Our class members were active in soccer, basketball, baseball, cheerleading, band and chorus. Junior: By the time we reached our Junior year, we had become very dignified. Jointly with the Junior Class of Hermon, we sponsored a Class Night and a Junior Prom. Our class treasury was slowly filling and we looked forward to our trip and our last year of high school. Senior: At last we entered our big year with twelve members and Mr, Cline, our advisor. It was a busy one, planning our trip and raising money. We held two food sales, sold cards and magazines, sponsored a Senior Supper and two assembly programs. Our Easter trip to Washington and New York will always be a vivid memory0 Rip Bristol was our valedictorian and Joanne Kentfield was salutatorlan. A big project was the yearbook with Jim Sayer as co-editor and Harley Merithew as Assistant Editor, Our class officers are Don Claflin, President; Shermon Cook, Vice-President; Jane Griffith, Secretary; and Olen Bristol and Eva St, John, co-treasurers. To you, Juniors, I hope your class history will be as bright and as enjoyable as ours. We hate to leave, but we must make room for you. Here is a little rememberance you may like to recall next year when you too are graduating. Sometimes we've had perplexing tasks and lessons hard to learn: Sometimes the way's been steep and rough. We knew not how to turn; But now those years are past and gone And kind have been the Fates, For somehow we have struggled through And now we're graduates.,n CLASS OP 1994 - CLASS HISTORY (HERMON) It was on a bright morning in September, 1990 that 20 of us entered into the front seats of the big study hall. During our Freshman year we elected William Vining as our Class President, Shirley Hance as Secretary-Treasurer. Our outstanding activities under Mrs. Bawtinhimer, our class ad- visor, were a fudge sale and a successful dance. September 19.91 - This year we started as Sdphomores in the newly centralized school of Hermon-DeKalb. By this time we were familiar with the rooms on the third floor, and espe- cially Mr. Chase’s room where , e spent a lot of time with his- tory review. This year we chose Mr. Hamilton as our advisor, and at our first joint meeting, we elected James Sayer, Pres- ident j-;William Vining, Vice-President; and Joanne Kentfield, Secretary. We held a most profitable joint vie dance at DeKalb, and several food sales. September 1992 - As Juniors our class was separated in- to several rooms This year we had to study hard because we had regents in nearly every subject. We worked hard at our studies, and harder at making money, William Vining was el- ected President, James Sayer, Vice-President,,Joanne Kentfield as Secretary, and Barbara Sanborn as Treasurer. During this year Mr. Chase acted as our class advisor and we held many successful events. Receiving our class rings and our Junior Prom were the highlights of the year. In June we moved up another step on our ladder of success. September 199.3 - We climbed the stairs again for our last year. The first big riot of the year was our Senior Play, Mama’s Baby Boy. Who will ever forget Grandma in the short skirt, and Minnie, the excitable maid? We found ourselves rather short on the financial side, and we start- ed out to raise funds. Under the leadership of Miss Bajjaly, our advisor, we held a series of food sales, dances and card sales. However, we spent a lot of time enjoying our- selves as a class, and keeping on the good side of the teachers. The year was climaxed by our fun-packed, exciting trip to Washington and New York. Our adventured in the big city will live forever in our memories. Soon it will be time for us to leave Hermon-DeKalb as a class, and we hope our soirit will live long after we have gone. Thus, with much sorrow we close the pages of our annals, the Senior History of 1994« PROPHECY The Senior trip of 1951). proved so successful for the on_peKalb Seniors that they decided to stay in New York r tv As the c ass 1961). arrived at Grand Central Station, thev were very surprised to notice that the whole class of 19 were waiting to greet them when they sot off the train. Now let us listen in on the conversation going on between the class of 19 61+ and the Alumni of 195i+ and see what the Alumni are really doing; Olen Bristol became attached to the monkeys at the Bronx zoo during the trip and is now head-keeper of the Monkey House. Bobby Todd four times married, is now running a profes- sional escort service for lonely ladies. Wayne Fletcher is a House Detective at the Taft Hotel. Stan Barr - is now replacing- Eddie Fisher on ’’Coke-Time and his latest smash hit is Come Back Little Sandra Beryl Baker formerly Dr, Claflin’s head nurse at Belle- vue, has resigned to become his bride. Shirley Hance and Ronald Penlong have replaced Lunt and Fon- tanne as Broadway’s great romantic duo and are now starring in Wonderful Town , Rita Reynolds model for Maybelline, has been unable to choose from her many admirers and so has de- cided to investigate the male situation in New York, Geneva St, John has become a guide at the United Nations, and Sherman Cook is currently reported to be interested in the delegate from Afghanistan, replacing Private Schine on MaCarthy's sub- committee has been investigating Casey Stengel for winning five pennants in a row. Bob Miller is the new dance king of America and has taken over the Authur Murray studios. It chastens vice, guides virtus, and gives grace and government to genius, Education may cost financial sacrifice and mental pain, but in both money and life values it will repay every cost one hundred fold. -- Anonymous Compliments--Hermon DoKalb Central School Teachers’ Association ALICE’S BEAUTY SHOPPE GRISKILL'S GULF STATION DeKalb Junction DEKALB JUNCTION New York: NEW YORK Phone 18F23 ARTHUR TURNBULL'S FANNING' 3 GAR AGE •-Harh-ware and General Store Electric and Ecetlyn© Welding DeKalb Junction Used Cars New York DeKalb Junction New York I 4 , Compliments Compliments of of Carl and Doris Hendrickson' De Kalb Telephone Company -Your Westingbouse Dealer- Alton Cobb, Prop.
