During his years as high school principal, he established the Hermleigh Beta Club and was a Senior member of the Texas Beta Club Council. He is a friend to us all, and we dedicate with grati- tude the 1978 CARDINAL CALL to him. H vow ,v Nfill .4 S N J x, Sq, N ' I 1 . ff FC Administration School Superintendent Roy Simmons Ray Simmons, Hermleigh School Superintendent since 1974, received his B.S. degree from Abilene Christian College in 1949. In 1952, he received his M.Ed. from Hardin Simmons University. He also attended the University of Texas and Western Texas State University. School Principals Billy Haynes Elementary Billy Haynes, the holder of a B.S. from Sul Ross University in 1968 and a M.Ed. in 1974, has taught at Hermleigh since 1974. This year he assumed the principalship of the elemen- tary school. Tommy Riley High School Tommy Riley earned his B.S. at Texas Tech University in 1962 and his M.A. from Sul Ross University in 1975. After serving 13 years as elementary principal, Mr. Riley became the high school principal this year. Seniors Journey to St. Louis The seniors and sponsors visit Grant's Farm in St. Louis. It is a treat to see the beautiful gardens and the variety of animals housed there, but it's a special treat to see the famous Clydesdales at the Busch Stables on the grounds. The seniors go up in the 630 foot high Gateway Arch and tour the museum located underground at the base of the Arch. A highlight of the trip is the dinner-theatre aboard THE GOLDENROD, a showboat on the Mississippi Fliver. A day at Six Flags over Mid-America proves that seniors and sponsors are still children-at-heart. Tours ofthe Missouri Botanical Gardens, Busch Stadium, the Sports Hall of Fame, and Busch Brewery end an enjoyable stay in St. Louis. On the return trip, the group visits the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Finally, every- one goes broke on a shopping spree at Crossroads Plaza before returning to Hermleigh. Below: 1.
