FRESHMAN INITIATION Freshmen entering high school this year should prize nigniy their membership in the student body, for they earned it the hard way when they were initiated by the seniors on Thursday, September 13. In compliance with a command from the seniors the initiates ar- rived at school Thursday morning in costume. The boys were wearing shorts and halters, while the girls, with their hair done in numerous braids, were clad in elaborate costumes made from gunny sacks. At the door they were met by stern faced seniors who piloted them upstairs and demanded that they remove their shoes and socks and place them in a neat row at the head of the stairs. Then they passed through the senior beauty shop and emerged with eyebrows, lips, and cheeks made up according to the seniors high standard of beauty. Between classes throughout the day the freshmen were met by the seniors who demanded that initiates stand at the attention and repeat the nloyalty oath.H Those unable to do so were set down in the Hblack bookn for special penalties.
