Jerry Kirkland, A ccompanist The sixty member high school choir, under the direction of Kenneth Geoffroy, rehearsed every school day from 12:45 till 1:30 P.M. The choir sang before the school assembly on sever- al occasions and accompanied the crowning of the football and basketball queens. A Thanks- giving program of religious and patriotic numbers and a Christmas program were presented. The 'Christmas Vespers' and the spring 'Song for You' programs, both annual events, consisted of variations of staging, lighting, and costum- ing. The choir performed several numbers for the baccalaureate and commencement programs. The choir added to its successful activities by presenting the operetta 'The Mikado . V1ce Sree, Sect amd The concert band held its annual winter con- cert on January 21, 1954, in the high school auditorium. The C.V.L. instrumental Clinic was held in Herington on March 16th. The band also partici- pated in the District Music Festival on April 2nd, in Salina. Every member of the band belonged to an em- semble. Beginners' ensembles were directed by more advanced members of the band. Several of the ensembles performed at concerts and on other occasions. The spring concert was held on May llth. On the 12th and 13th of that month the band partici- pated in the Santa Fe Trail Celebration. Compliments of CL ARK OIL COMP ANY.
