MASS HISHIRY As we look back over our four short years as hrgh school students we recall some of the hrghlrghts that made those years seem lastrng As meek and shy freshmen We all trudged to our frrst class meetmg We rmmedrately elected our offrcers with the help of our sponsors They were Beverly Lee Presrdent Bob Hannegan Vrce Presldent Bob Dale as Secretary and Treasurer and Carl Ellrott asHrstor1an Our class numbered 51 members and gsponsors whowere Mr Boyd Talley Mrss Flora Burnett and Mr Joe Bussard Our frrst semester party was a prcnrc at the Hermgton Lake Transportatron was provxded and everyone brought therr own lunch and a gay evenmg was spent at Lake l-lermgton Second semester found us agarn Journeyrng to the lake to eat, but mrs trme rt was on hayracks The rides were drrty and dusty but we were havrng fun Tractors were drrven by Maurrce Morgan and Duane Brehler wrth the superv1s1on of Mr Talley The Freshman attendant to the Football Queen was Claudrne Darby I.n musrc eleven freshmen helped to frll the roll books for the band drrector Partrcrpatrng rn sports were nrne 1n football and one rn basketball As not so green sophomores we elected as our offrcers Bob Hannegan as Presldent, Bob Holeman Vrce Presrdent Carl Elllott Secretary and Harry Granzow as Treasurer As our sponsors for our sophomore year we had Mr Darrell Mounkes and Mrss laura Melander As an 3Ct1V1ty as sophomores we undertook to have a dance for our class Not many boys could dance but most of them made a try to show they were good sports The refreshments rn the Home Ec room delrghted everyone Incrdently we had cup cakes and COKES When we were Junrors we thought we were well on the way out and decrded to really have a hard year of earnmg money To lead us to the best path we elected Maurice Moran Presrdent Harry Granzow Vrce Presrdent Bob Schaaf Secretary and Glenn Bayes as Treasurer Our sponsors were Mrss Elorse Palmqurst Mr Darrell Mounkes and Mr Waldo Pankratz Our frrst attempt to establrsh our used- up funds was dues and our Carnrval The carmval was a huge success well recerved by the people The Queen of the evening of fun was Beverly Lee guls were requrred to grve the boys a party Thrs was a hambuger fry at the farrgrounds and served as our semester party Our Junror play was a comedy in three acts Our Mrss hmmy was the trtle and our performances were well recerved by the audrence The brg event of the year was rn the near future and rmmedrately we began to plan for the banquet We chose as our theme Evenrng In Parrs and much beauty was drsplayed rn It s entrrety For months afterward the scene was in one s mrnd Our Senror year found us at the top of everythmg At least that was our thought -maybe not tops wrth everyone else but wrth ourselves anyway At our frrst meetrng we chose offrcers whom we thought could take care of the busy seruor year Presrdent Jerry Mflham Vrce Presrdent, Grady Ghrer Secretary Carl Elltott Treasurer lekoy Longhofer andH1stor1an Carolyn Brux Claudrne Darby was crowned Football Queen by Captam LeRoy Longhofer of the Football squad on the mghr of Home comrng Her attendant was Sonya Woten Our basketball queen was Beverly Lee and Grady Ghrer was her escort Beverly s two attendants were Carolyn Henderson and Shrrley Bell Our Skrp Day was an excmng one and after a happy day we all trudged home for a short mght s sleep What fun we drd havel We decorated the Chrrstmas nee rn the marn hall Thrs served as our party of the semester and after e hard work fudge and cokes were enjoyed Wrth only a few weeks left rn our last hrgh school year but contalned rn those weeks were frlled the thoughts of Class Day Commencement and Baccalaureate Agam we beganto recall memones and the wonderful experrences that frll the heart of a senror Our four years are at an end and with sad hearts we look back and see the happy and emoyable thmgs we must leave The march down the arsle torecerve our drplomas many steps unsure because of tears but as that moment began to fade and one shook the hand of and older and more expenenced person rt gave an rnsprrmg hope that we now were begrnning a new era rn our lxves 38 We next tried a magazine sale to try for more money.
