The Most Original Float award was taken by Senior's Castles in the Air while the Bandis Notes in Storylandn rated first in expressing the parade theme. The aims and objectives of the Student Council include promotion of better rela- tions between the student body and the faculty, promotion of school spirit, encouragement of high standards of conduct and scholarship, and an organi- zation to be of service to the school and the student body. The Student Councilis projects involve such things as sponsoring homecoming and selling Christ- mas holly fto raise moneyj. This year they ran for District Secretary and won the election by a large majority. Mr. George and Mr. Barber, the sponsors of Student Council, lead S. The 126 members promote school spirit during the pep rallies and the games. Besides learning hand motions to chants they learn a hand jive to go to band music. During Dumas Week they choose one football player to do little things for each day secretly. To accom- plish these goals they plan to have a Christmas party for Elin and Dean, the AFS students, a Chili Supper in January, a Sweetheart Banquet, February 14, and Secret Grandmothers, in which each member picks an elderly lady to do things for until April when a tea is planned to honor them. All the members are chosen from the top per cent of their class. Sophomorcs that are picked, are on probation until their Junior year. NHS sells candy to raise money for a scholarship. Each year they honor the football boys at Homecoming with a breakfast. They also collect food for a basket at Thanksgiving and have a party at Christmas. Its objective is to interest students in planning a career in a health field. Herefordls defense, which has shined in every game this year, did not fail the offense this time as they allowed the visitors only two first downs, one on a penalty and the other via a pass in the second half. With 2:28 left in the third quarter, Hereford put themselves in the winners role to stay when on the first play from scrimmage at their own 46, junior QB Mike Wartes unloaded a scoring pass to end Woody Woodward. Seven plays later, it was the Whitefaces again when back Ricki Ward broke free and scampered for the touchdown behind the perfected downfield blocking. After jumping out to a 2' point lead, the Herd waited until 4:01 was remaining on the clock to begin their decisive drive. They began on the 34, then Wartes hit end Woody Woodward for 15 yards and the ball was at the Hereford 48. A screen pass to back Ricki Ward picked up a first down at the Perryton 41. Hereford then went to the air and found J eff Loerwald in the clear at the 21. After failing of two passes, a 13-yard gain was picked up on a come-hack pass to Woodward again. With the ball resting on the eight yard line and slightly over a min. left to play, a pitch out to Ward carried the pigskin to the two yard line, and Pitman went across for tieing touchdown. For the next score Richard Lyons traveled 46 yards and then took the hand-off and went across for the 2 point conversion. With 52 seconds left in the half, Paul Loerwald went over for a TD to end the score at half, 20-0. During the fourth quarter, QB Mike Wartes executed a jump pass to Rodney Dearing for the final TD.
