The members are elected for overlapping terms of three years by the qualified voters of the Hereford Rural High School District. This Board is the real head of the school system and the officials and teachers of each school must be approved by it. The members of the Board also prepare a budget for each school year, work out problems arising during the year, and set up poli- cies for the school program. BOARD OF TRUSTEES BERT BOOMER President W. R. HAIR Vice-President MARCUS LATHAM Secretary TOM ROBINSON W. T. AXE RALPH HASTINGS B. F. CAIN Fred Baird is the financial secretary of the Board of Trustees and is charged with the job of assessing and collecting the taxes. 1 4, ,, Q, ig , t 5- BILL STA FORD PRINCIPAL As Principal of Hereford High School, Mr. Stanford is a kind of mediator between the administratixe staff and the students. He's the one who must appease the lady who called because high school students have walked on her lawn. He's the one who must listen to the never-ending tardy or absentee excuses. It would be impos- sible to list each duty Mr. Stanford must perform. The picture above is typical of each day when we hear his voice over the intercom saying, Good morning, students. I have a few announcements to make. In this instance the announcement happens to be the reading of a letter from the American Field Service informing the school that Eugenia Alexander has been accepted as an exchange student. 4uv.m5fv'4-5 , -f..-J Qi. She spent six months, from August to Jan- uary, living with a family in Fredricia, Denmark. We are all profiting from the ex- periences which Eugenia gained and has so effectively shared with us. Eugenia prepares to enplane for New York on the first lap of her trip to Den- mark. Eugenia has brought to us, through her experiences, a greater understanding of Denmark and its people. Many en- joyable moments have been brought us by the stories of her adventures. i x l 1 3. s,- Nebbegaard this picturesque Danish estate was Eugenia s home during her stay in Denmark The hilly tree covered terrain was quite a contrast to the landscape of Texas JOELLE TILLIER-LAROCHE EXCHANGE STUDENT Our exchange student this year is Ioelle Tillier-Laroche. Joelle seems very happy with the gifts presented to her at the F.H.A. formal initiation. Joelle has spoken before many clubs and organi- zations this year, bringing information about her country's customs and beliefs. Mrs. Tillie:-Laroche came from France to join Ioelle at Christmas. We were very proud of our choir as they were invited to represent this area at the State Fair held at Dallas. Boys, that last play didn't come out quite right, points out Coach Williams. Although our record wasn't as good as some, no student body was prouder of their team than ours. Braving the ice blasts of a fall night, we held annual bonfire just before the Olll' Littlefield ball- game. Nominations for each honor are made in the home rooms and then turned into the office for approval. Members of Mrs. Calvert's Senior home room are shown here as they nominate for one of the honor positions. Ballots are then distributed to each home room where they are handed to the students. Voting is carried on much as it is in governmental elections. Mr. Thompson's Junior home room is pictured here as they enjoy their voting rights. HOW WE ELECT OUR PERSONALITIES Next, the ballots are typed and run-off by the office personnel and members of the Annual Staff. Troy Don Moore at the cut-machine, and Bettye Snead and Nona Marie Strange, at the duplicating machine, help in this process. Officers of each home room, fMr. Jones in this casey the sponsor, count the votes in their particular class. These votes are turned into the office for final results. This year Mrs. Chisholm, one of the sponsors of the Annual Staff, was en- trusted with the results until the Koob- raey Awards Assembly. At this assembly, held in January, all positions were an- nounced, except Most Beautiful and Most Handsome.
