Oaks that flourish for a thousand years do not spring up into beauty like a reed. —George lleury Lewes With this Scroll may the year of 1960 be kept a memory forever. Just as the roots support a tree through its ageless years, so do the three years spent at Hoover sup- port a foundation for the knowledge that we will use throughout our lives. Quietly over the years, the roots of a tree grow deeper into the earth, while its branches reach to- ward the sky. As our tree grows and develops, it symolizes the Thirty Years of Growth in Hoover's history. The years pass, and class after class graduates. Moving into the distant reaches of the world far from the root of their education, they spread the ideals, standards, and values of Hoover the tree extend- ing its branches. Growth is gradual and invisible to us at the mo ment. Only in reflection do the many years form a visible picture of Thirty Years of Growth.
