A new Geometry book by Moise and Downs was introduced. The San Diego City College Calculus course also adopt- ed a more modern book. All the classes offered this year, except regular Senior Trigonometry and Algebra, were modern mathematics and were operated under the newest teaching meth- ods. The S.M.S.G. and advanced math courses kept Hoover students up on the latest studies in this growing field. 19

Especially good were our instructors. Mrs. Buker wrote an ex- cellent curriculum guide for Music Apprecia- tion that was used in the San Diego City Schools this year. Mr. Stollsteimer, our new band and orchestra leader, played lst trumpet with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Close also used piano for the first time to teach harmony.
