Members of the Graduating Class of 1959: During your years in Herbert Hoover High School you have had many high lights. An emphasis has been placed on the academic, especially mathematics and science, to meet the many challenges of the space age exploration. In this race for outer space it will take more than the development of material things. Mankind will have new fron- tiers to conquer in the interplanetary skies. He will have to learn how to get along better with his fellow men. Seniors, you have the whole universe before you. The last three years of high school have been just the beginning of MR. ALLEN It was the best of times, it was the worst of times . . . These opening words of Charles Dickens' Tale of Two Cities might describe some of your memories as you recall your Hoover highlights. The winning of an election or a defeat on the athletic field may characterize for you the best and worst of times. For each of you the recollections of your years at Hoover are most meaningful because of the persons involved. The friends who made posters and conducted your election cam- paign, the teammates who shared your tears as you left the game-the persons in your life at Hoover have made even your unhappy moments warm and memorable.
