Members of the graduating class ot I955: You have already been asked, perhaps many times, What are your plans tor the future? Your answer to this question may not be too important at this time. Many ot you have not been able to decide upon your plans and those who have may change them: but it is important to realize early in lite that there is a plan and a purpose for your lite and that it is of utmost importance. Never lose sight ot the tact that, no matter what the circumstances or handicaps, God has a plan and a purpose tor your lite. It you will seek earnestly tor that purpose, there is no doubt that you will tind it. Over a period ot years at home and in school you have been getting some basic infor- mation, a general education, something of science, literature, mathematics, and a little knowledge ot your country, its methods ot government and its struggle tor existence. The importance of team work and your social obligations to others have been taught since kindergarten. ln this process you have learned much about yourselt, your abilities and your handicaps. You have discovered and admired strength of character in others and have deplored weaknesses. Now you are ready to seek and pursue the purpose ot your lite. You cannot overestimate the importance of your lite to others as well as to yourself, and much serious thought should be given to your plans. Even grades and honors are but sounding brass and tinkling cymbals it insight and earnest- ness ot purpose are missed. May I urge you to be tolerant, but never compromising, in your convictions. Sincerely, WWW

This' is indeed the time ot your lite-the time to cultivate friends who challenge the best that is within you, the time to develop habits which help, not handicap, the time to formulate a philosophy ot lite worth living and dying tor. May you lceep tresh and clear the memories ot your high school years, especially those moments when you have lcnown that you were capable ot greater ettort and greater achieve- ment. May God help you to tultill your potentiali- ties in the passing of time. JJQKZQMJ W 1 Dear Graduates: We very aptly call your graduation Com- mencement. For me, and l thinlc tor you, it is truly a beginning-the beginning of your adult lite. Legally you may become an adult at a certain specified time when you have lived a certain number ot years, but actually you reach your majority when you are no longer under the careful and close supervision you have had up until now. When you have completed the course ot study as prescribed and have been granted your high school diploma, you are on your own and your adult lite lies ahead ot you to do with as you will. My best wishes go with you, and may your experiences here at l-loover ever be a help and inspiration to you to malce the best ot that wondertul new grown-up lite ahead. 6? ,JJM-21:24
