Text from Pages 1 - 106 of the 1979 volume:

In the Fall of 1957 a young rookie principal came on the scene at Henryville High School. That young principal also inherited the sponsorship of the Yearbook, since he was the only faculty member with Yearbook experience. That new principal was me. The photographer working with me from Main Studio was Mrs. Murphy. In the twenty- two years that have followed she has been working with our schools. In all of these years she has always been extremely professional in working with administrators, faculty and students. I never asked her to meet an appointment or a deadline that she did not meet. Thank you for the many years of service to our school. Respectfully, Herman E. Miller, Superintendent, West Clark Community School Corp. Mrs. Murphy has watched our school grow in so many ways. She saw the beginning of Track in 1963, 8th grade Basketball in 1963, Student Council, 1970, and the inclusion of Girls' sports from 1973 to 1979. Because of her quality photographic work, we have an outstanding visual record of her performance at our school. We greatly appreciate your many years of service and will definitely miss your patience and sincerity with all of us at Henryville High School. Of course we didn't do aswell as our new perfectflonist coach Rademacher expected, but we did beat some good teams. As you well remember, we got a slow start with all our rained out games, but we rapidly gained a 5-0 conference lead early. In 79 we learned a lot from our new coach and had a lot of fun. We're planning on using this year for experience, while waiting for next spring to roll around and give Henryville the best baseball record it's ever seen! -Player Curt Higdon Left to right: Coach Tom Traylor, Tim Abbott, Don Wycoff, Kevin VanMeter, Bill Hooe, Jack Murphy, Fred Tucker, Lyle Roach, Rodney Bottorff. The person who coordinates and facilitates all school activities and acts as liaison between faculty and students. Any person who takes this responsibility must train himself by attending a national leadership workshop. Advisor's Comments: Henryville High Student Council was started in 1969-70 by a concerned group. President-Carey Rothbauer, Senior, with Dwight Fisher-faculty advisor, and Cecil Vannoy, Senior, who was mostly responsible for the constitution, showed prime leadership in this initial year of organization. The Council, at this time was thought of as a club. In 1971-72, Patricia Marsh became advisor with Judy Huter as president. The Council's aim from that point on was to become a service and legislative organization. You best may judge our success. Some of our greatest achievements have been school dances, spirit week, activity letter, and several annual programs. Our aim for the coming years is school pride. Being a member of the Student Council this year has been a very intriguing experience. It has been filled with a variety of different people, emotions, views and beliefs. From this, we have learned more about each other, our school, and most of all ourselves. We have gained experience in communication and responsibility. Even though it is a lot of hard work, you have a lot of good times. There is also a lot of satisfaction from seeing the goals you have set finally being reached. Susie Goodman P.S. NEWS PAPER 5 ' Newspaper! Newspaper! Get your school newspaper! Hornet's Huddle! Get your newspaper! hThis year, as you may have noticed, the paper had a different look. We went to a workshop at Hanover to learn how to put a paper together to have it sent off and printed up. It took us a while to get the first one out, and then we only made four. But we've learned alot and next year the paper will probably be even better. Thanks to all of you who helped make our paper a success. Editor-Stacey Robertson The newspaper worked hard and we put out a new and exciting paper. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and we hope next year to make it bigger and better. I want to thank Mrs. Allen for her help.
