Dimly we can see, in the fall of 1942, 46 eager six-year-olds, the girls with dresses above the knees and the boys clad in overalls, timidly making their way to the Henryville School. Maybe we didn't realize it then, but that was the beginning-of twelve happy, and sometimes unhappy, years of learning. Through the years, we have lost old friends and gained new ones, but of the 46 who started in together, 16 are still with us. They are: Billy Aldrich, Jose- phine Baxter, Betty Jo Butts, Francis Conroy, Betty Coomes, Tim Doqm Johnny Elrod, Barbara Furnish, Marvin Gapinske Gayle Guernsex Shirley Hamm, Iris Linnie, Charles Rueff, Joan Thomas, Dale Watson, and Joyce Watson. The years went fast, and one day we found ourselves ready to start the last lap of our journey of education in the Henryville School. Fourty-eight green Freshmen enrolled in Henryville High School. Of course, we were soon initiated by the Sophomores, a day we will long remember. Then, under the guidance of our Sbon- sor, Mr. Albert Dickson, we neatly handed the office of the presidency to Dale Watson with Hugh Cox, his capable help for vice-president, Guy Guernsey, Secre- tary, and Arlie Dotson, Treasurer. We showed our upper classmen a good time by giving a Itwardtimes'aparty. Then, as our nominee for queen, we proudly presented Betty Jo Butts. We ended our Freshman year with an enjoyable trip to Spring Mill State Park. In 1951, we came back to H. H. S. for the second time with Mr. H. G. Furnish, our sponsor. We forced the presidency upon Tim Doup, with .Hugh Cox, vice-presi- dent, Betty Coomes, Secretary, Barbara Furnish, TreaSurer. This time we nominated Agnes Riley our Class Queen. We again entertained the school by giving a party in honor of Valentines Day. We were now on the giving end instead of the receiving; so we imitated the Freshmen into Henryville High School. We happily ended our year by taking an excursion to Clifty Falls State Park. As tradition goes, our Junior year was a Jolly one. With Mrs. Eberhard guid- ing us as our sponsor, we started off by giving the president's chair to Barbara Furnish with Hugh Cox, vice-president, Betty Coomes,Secretary, and Betty Jo Butts, Treasurer. We sold concessions at the basketball games and broke the record by selling more than any previous class. We had the honor of playing host at the School's Christmas Party. Betty Coomes and Arlie Dotson were nominated as queen and king from the class. We gave a Banquet at Colonial Manor in honor d'the Senior Class. Another trip to Spring Mill State Park marked the Jolly close of our 5rd year high school. Now we are Seniors. We are bringing to an end our days at Henryville High School. We started out our year with Dale Watson again Serving as presedent. with Charles Rueff, vice-president, Hugh Cox, Secretary, and Tim Doup, Treasurer. Darrell Sharrard and Betty Coomes were elected to represent our class as king and queen. We have also had the good fortune of having Miss Barbara Dunlevy as our sponsor. We had our traditional magazine sale with quite a few students receiving salesmanship awards. Our high salesman was Barbara Furnish. We are again proudd' the fact that we sold more magazines than any other class had done previously. We continued publishing our school paper with Charlotte Henretty as editor. We also continued the tradition of publishing aiAnnual with Barbara Furnish as editor. The Senior year comes to a close with the school play; our memorable Senior Week trip. Baccalaireate Services, and finally Graduation where we hope to receive our long coveted diplomas atthe hands of Mr. W. E. Wilson, County Superintendent ofSeheola, those calamaties. or so they seemed then, which beset us along the way have now diminished in importance to little nonentiee that were only characteristic or grow as up'. We will look back no longer, for we are facing a bright. happy future. one we will enlist all the background of knowledge that we possess to bring hope. peace and love to all about us. v . Dale Watson is widely Known as Captain Thursday of Ragnet , and his assistant is Sergeant Hugh Cox, who cracked the case of Watson's Missing Glasses . Now we see that they are working on another case and this is The Robbery of the Bunny-Hop Dance Hall , owned by Joyce Watson, better known as Slim , who is the wife of Billy Aldrich, presidentcf The Trustless Loan Company . Captain Thursday is questioning the Hillbilly Singer at this dance hall,Charlotte Henretty, who says that she recognized Dickie Smallwood, public enemyrumber one, and his notorious partner in crime, Tommy Williams, two of the suspects heading for Killer's Cave organized by Darlene Killebrew, The Great Man- Killer of all Times. Her husband, Johnny Elrod,is separated fromker because he believes that she is hiding out these criminals. While this is going on, assistant Cox is questioning four of the chorus girls of the Bunny-Hop Dance Hall, Fae Minor, who is queen of the Dance Hall, Gayle Guernsey, wife of the wealthy Calendar Company Executive, Carlton Sanders, Iris Linne, who is the part-time secretary of Charles Rueft Mayor of Tough Street, and Theresa Hayes who, besides dancing there also designsihe dancer's costumes. Afterquestion- ing these dancers Cox has come to thecnnclusion thatihe piano playen Francis Conroy, knows more thanks is willing to admit but his girl friend, Josephine Baxter, says that she thinks his trust-worthy chauffeur, Darrell Sherrard,is implicated in the crime. Sergeant Cox and Captain Thursday have decided that the case is getting too complicated for them so they have called upon higher officials from Washington, D. C. These officials are Betty Coomes, who is the best woman detective in Washington, and Arlie Dotson, who, besideslning an F.B.I. official, is also the authortf thetest sellingtook of the year, Midnight Falls at.Dawn. Now that they are here, they arefinding new clues. thn Jones, who is the Janitor at the Dance Hall, hasxun acrossone of the glovescf the well-known Hollywood actress, Joan Thomas, who has just finished'te picture, Comedy Joan. Jones doesn't knew what to do with1he glove, so he haStbcided to ask the advice of Marvin Gapinske, a real prizeiighter, who is known by millions as Punchless Gus for having wonthe total of one fight. Gus thinks that JonesSunud turn the glove over to the authoritiesfbr more evidence. Now that they have this glove and are getting closer to the solution, Tim Doup, Joan'Stn-star in the picture that they just finished, thinks that they should have more evidence before Joan is convicted. Tim goes out and returns with another clue which later will solvethe whole mystery. This clueuas given to him by an employee of the Butts and Davis Rabbit Farm, ownedty Betty utts and Pat Davis. This employeeis Barbara Gilley, who feeds the rabbits weekly. But it seems that none of these suspects are guilty, Captain Thursday and Sergeant Cox have Jlst caught Barbara Gilley's neighbor, antid maidfhrbaraFUrnish, and her caretaken Murray Bagshaw with the rabbit, which is what was stolenat the Bunny-HOp Dance Hall The clue which cnnvicted Barbara and her caretakervas a headcf lettuce brought back by Tim, on which the rabbit had nibbled. lst.
