H. A. Club DOM B EC K'S GROCERY CRABTREE ADDITION PHONE 214 Class History ot the Class In, September, 1947, we proudly, but shyly, entered the halls of Henryetta High School. We were green Freshmen. Between being afraid of the Seniors biting us and getting our locker and room num- bers straight we finally managed to elect our class officers. We chose Carl Bagwell for President and Charles Key for Vice-President. Joan Rork was our Secretary and Treasurer and Dorothy Dunnavant was our Reporter. For their big mouths we elected Pete Rowe and Arylene Henderson our yell lead- ers. Miss Dutton was our choice for Sponsor. The rest of the year we spent in studying hard, getting used to the new building and new faces, and settling down to four years of high school life. We end- ed the year by 'having a wonderful time at a picnic at the lake. In the fall of 1948 we entered high school for the second time. We were no longer known as green Freshmen but we were full class- men now, Sophomores. We were a wonderful class and we knew it. We knew we must elect only the best officers. The girls fought for women's rights and elected Ary- lene Henderson as President. For Vice-President we chose Carl Bag- well. lCharlene Walling was our secretary and treasurer and Char- les Hickman and Mary Ann Prew- itt were our yell leaders. Mr. Pugh was chosen our Sponsor. This year was different. We were upper class- t '51 men. Some of our boys names ap- peared on football programs and baseball and baske-tball lineups. Our girls served at the Junior- Senior Banquet and enjoyed the Pepperettes and other organiza- tions. This year We again had a picnic to end the school term. We played baseball and had a wonder- ful time. We could hardly wait for the next year when we would be JUNIORS! Our third year of highschool was full of activities. We were to be responsible for treating the Sen- iors with a Junior-Senior Banquet. Our problem was to raise the mon- ey. We started out by having a rummage sale. We worked all day. Some of us even modeled our mer- chandise - and looked pretty good in it too. Our very able officers were Don Shane, presidentg Bob Rodriquez, vice-presilcntg Arylene Henderson, secretary and treasur- erg and Pete Rowe and Shirley Wall, yell leaders. Miss Huss was elected our sponsor. We had a bake sale that went over very well. Then we gave our Junior class play, Don't Take My Penny , a comedy, which was a tremendous success. And then came the Junior-Senior basketball game and by some miracle we lost it! Then came May and time for the Junior-Senior Banquet. We were very thrilled and excited. The HAMRA'S 324 WEST MAIN PHONE 294 Class History banquet carried out an Indian theme. Big Chief Don Shane was our Master of Ceremonies. We had a heap big time and after the banquet we had a Junior-Senior Prom at Teen Town. Later that month we helped the Seniors to graduate by decorating the gym and doing odd jobs at 'Commence- ment and Baccalaureate services. We were sorry to see the Seniors leave but we were anxious to be next year's SENIORSl Then came that fateful day in September, 1950, and we were H. H. S.'s highest classmen! We were really going to be busy this year. First of all we chose Carroll Hat- field as President, Bob Rodriquez as vice-president, Dean Brison as secretary and treasurer. Arylene Henderson and Ronald Collett were our yell leaders and Miss Huss was again elected our spon- sor. There were a lot of new faces around this year - Mr. Power, our new wardeng Mrs. Gay, our language teacher, Mr. Speer, Mr. Berryhill, Mr. Rezabek, Miss Moor- er, and all the rest. Then came the happy day we chose our rings and announce- ments. Everyone thought a differ- ent ring was prettiest but we finally got together and ordered some.- In December we had our Senior Dinner with decorations, trees, presents, and everything - includ- ing a real, live Santa Clause who gave away embarrassing gifts. Some left the dinner red faced, but happy. But then in January our rings came. You could tell the Seniors by the way they held their arms. Next came the annual Junior-Sen- ior basketball game and this time we won. On April 2 we had OUR day. We had a picnic and went skating and had an all-around good time. Teen town gave us a dance that night. The girls were busy that night - they were getting ready for our Senior Tea which was given by the Twentieth :Cen- tury Club the next afternoon. In May the Juniors treated us with a banquetg the Teen Towners treated us with a nrom. The ban- quet was beautiiul and the p-rom was a lot of fun. This was really a busy month. This was probably the last time all of us would ever be together, but few of us had time to think about it. Our caps and gowns came and for the first time we realized we were Seniors. Were we ever a proud and good-looking bunch of Seniors! That week we were very busy - Baccalaureate, Commencement and everything tall at once. Now we proudly, but sadly de- part from the old school, leaving behind us a lot of hard work and fun and we hope a lot of pleasant memories.
