Rosenbaum D Christophersen Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford VARSITY Chadsey Redford Mackenzie Lincoln Harper Woods Osborn RESERVE Chadsey Redford Mackenzie Northern Varsity Harper Woods Osborn 2 3 U O ln the fall of 1959 Fords first girls field hockey team was organized Miss Mary Bottaro organized and coached both the varsity and reserve teams The girls on both teams had never played any CO1'1'1pGl1llV9 fleld hockey before For the most part the only ex perience they had had was IH health classes Coach Bottaro who IS an all American field hockey player did an excellent Job in training the girls for experi enced competition. Both of the teams played six games the varsity winning two and the reserves winning three. Four of the games were played on our own field. Eleven girls on each team received their letters. Marilyn Allum and Penny Bennett were co-captains of the varsity' Sandra Dougherty and Fran Wedge were co-captains of the reserves. It was an outstanding season for a new team. The girls played very well against more experienced teams.
