Some of the more important purposes of the club are to create an interest and appreciation for better music, to develop the ability to read vocal music, to learn fundamental music theory, to de- velop fine voices and to develop a spirit of friendly cooperation among the members. The purpose and activities are similiar to those of the glee club as applied to instrumental music. The band plays for assembly programs, football games, parades and various pub- lic appearances as well as an annual spring concert at school. The Music Boosters Club might very well be called one of the maior powers behind the Henry Clay music de- partment. It is open to all interested parents, especially those having children enrolled in music. This club strives to promote and maintain the music depart- ment by raising moneyfor anything need- ed that the school is unable to appro- priately procure through its regular department budget. The school owes the club many thanks for its unfailing efforts to spot opportunities where it can func- tion to our advantage.
