The members plan the extra- curricular activities of the students and coordinate these with the rest of the school's program. The Student Cooperative Associa- tion played host to the Richmond District Meeting on December fourth. Representa- tives from nine counties and three cities gathered for business, disscussion, and fun This year, anewlyorganized Honor Court is attempting to teach that behavior and honesty is each student's personal re- sponsibility. lt is the hope of the Student Council that such training will make better citizens now and in the future. The club annually sponsors a county-wide Science Fair. Great interest has been shown and some of the students have gone on to Randolph Macon's Open House and the University of Richmond. Last year Bill McMal4in and Bobby Grattan won two hundred dollar scholarships to Randolph Macon College. The Bios Club is fortunate in being able to hear speakers from the college also. lt attends Science Day at the University of Richmond and also sponsors field trips to places of scientific interest. 43 Weed or Flower? Efficient Business Staff Makes If it were not for the Business Staff this yearbook could not materialize, for it stands behind everything the Literar Staff does, and the two staffs work together satis- factoriily to produce the book. At almost any time during the fall, especially in those few minutes before the bell rings for first period classes to begin, it is possible to see some member of the Business Staff scurrying around with a subscription book in his hand. The staff works very hard soliciting advertise- ments and subscriptions and keeping all the finances balanced. This ear it has added another eight pages to the yearbook ancfeach year the quantity increases little by ittle. Through the leadership of its manager, Melinda Luck, and the complete co-operation of all members, the staff has successfully completed its work. Also, the Business Staff of T958 has a new sponsor, Mrs. Reed, who has expertly guided it in its work. 45 Annual Possible High Finance! is . Band Adds Color to School Activities The band at Henry Clay is still in its infancy, this marking the third yearof its full-time operation. The purpose and activities are similiar to those of the glee club as applied to instrumental music. The band plays for assembly programs, football games, parades and various pub- lic appearances as well as an annual spring concert at school. The Music Boosters Club might very well be called one of the maior powers behind the Henry Clay music de- partment. It is open to all interested parents, especially those having children enrolled in music. This club strives to promote and maintain the music depart- ment by raising moneyfor anything need- ed that the school is unable to appro- priately procure through its regular department budget. The school owes the club many thanks for its unfailing efforts to spot opportunities where it can func- tion to our advantage.
