H2 57 Thirteen frolicking Freshmen skipped 'down ig the steps of room A-l on September 5, 1944, to gay' begin their careers as full-fledged high school 23, students. After the first qualms caused by the gf new teachers and classes wore off,thenFresh1esn 150, elected Carolyn Schlechter to lead them, with f-.? Carl Christman as Vice-Presidentg Donald Lamver- f 55 meyer was chosen to keep the records, and Janet mfg Coultrip, to take care of the money. Ei The Sophomores initiated the probationers into the realms of high school on October 6. Hallowe'en came and found three of the Freshman , x boys turning cook at a Hallowe'en party at the Boy Scout Farm. Oh! Those half-raw hamburgers! Arlene Holzhauer entertained the class at ' ,,H her home for a Christmas party. . Wayne Stayton fhl moved away during Christmas vacation, leaving 3, the class with twelve members. On Nay ll, 1945, 2 the Freshmen sponsored a Spring dance with John- , QQ ny Jackson's orchestra. MON Before they knew it, the year was over, gxwy vacation passed, and they were returning to Hen- ffwf rietta High as Sophomores. June Gerber and Wayne fwtj Stayton brought the class to fourteen. Donald -gy' Lamvermeyer was elected as President, Carolyn .Fwd Schlechter as Vice-President, Janet Coultrip as Secretary, and Arlene Holzhauer as Treasurer. Initiating the Freshmen on September 28 was T , the first social event of the school year. Then came the Hallowe'en party which was held on Oct- ober 51, 1946. About this time, Donald Lamver- ,gQ0'J, meyer transferred to Oberlin. This left the class with thirteen members. Jerry Currier was A t -mm U elected President. Wayne moved to Indiana and later l g iQ7 joined the navy. fjdi Class rings brought the next thrill, and 5 fgji frequent handwavings brought the coveted jewelry 'Ugg . H into the limelight. In December the class spon- ,Fei Aim sored the Hoosier Cornhuskers who provie those 'VX vygg attending with humorous entertainment. Floyd SQFQ LQ., Heys provided the music for a dance held on Feb- wif? ruary 21. Next was the annual event of the Jun- TAL 5- ier play. The play presented was entitled The ,Q . Big Blow-up. -why Early in March, 1947, Richard Currier left IQI' llff Henrietta to join the Army. leg X' 4 fflxxlfib ., grit The calendar kept moving, and soon the date 752 QXX' for the Junior - Senior Reception arrived. This 1,5 its took place at Martin's Inn on May 10. A dance 2 uv., was held in the school gym. Music was furnished up 9 5 by the Jolly Boys. ,, .
