These were 'I'he boys -and girls who were fo be my classmaies fhroughoul our eleven years in school, wiih Ihe exceplion of Kafherine Boger and Lois Gilbow. There were Anne Lerner, Claudia Gales, Inez Pearson, Bobby Doyle Wells, Frances Reeves, Ben Ingram, Jr., Eva Bragg, Carl Bell, Bobby Bru'l'on, Hilly Garrison, Von Ray Parlrer and Andrew Smifh. Under fhe guidance of our firsi grade feachers, Miss Lula and Miss McKinney, we finally learned our ABC's and fha? 'I'he sum of 2+2 is equal +o 3. A+ fhe end of ihe year a sigh of relief swepf over our classroom, when we discovered we were all fo be promo+ed +o fhe second grade. Wifh a year of schooling we 'Ielf assured and confideni on enfering fhe second grade, faughl' by Miss Waniland and Miss Householder. Our enrhusiasm was les- sened by 'lhe faci' ihai Ka'l'herine Boger lefi our midsh however, Mary Ann Waison, who was fo coniinue wiih us the nexl fen years, ioined our class: Our ihird year was supervised by Miss Barlreley and Miss Moore. We were pleasanlly surprised lo find 'lhal' Kafherine Boger had refurned Io our happy fhrong. Miss Howard and Miss Chapman welcomed us wi+h open arms affer hearing fha? we were a quiei and a'Hen'I'ive class. If was fhe year fha? Ones Ross and Bertha Goeflman made fheir appearance. Because Ones was fhe firsi boy fo come io our class since we enfered school, fhere was much hair pulling fo deiermine which girl would ge? fo chase him around fhe school grounds. By fha slain of our 1'ee+h, we passed in+o fha fifrh grade and who should come upon +he scene buf Mary Neale, fo add fo ihe confusion. Mrs. Pegram and Miss Evufhrie overcame +heir impulse 'io declare us a hopeless class and prepared us for fha coming year. A+ lasf we had reached fhe half-way marlr of our goal. Again, a member of our class was missing-none other fhan Lois Gilbow. We were asfonished io find ihaf Mrs. Pegram had become so affeched io us ihai she moved up io be our sixth grade sponsor. We were originally fo be in +he sevenih grade, bui ihe Iwalve grade sysiem was begun, consequenfly, we became members of 'Ihe eighih grade. Our class increased fhis year wifh 'ihe enlrance of Gay Brixey, Georgia Rufh Johnson, Lillian Rofia, Berry Sims, Palsy Wes? and Cleafus Richardson. Mr. Pope and Mrs. Dees pre- pared us for our long-awaifed graduaiion. swf 50927 As we had been informed upon fhe subiecf of fhe freafmenf of Freshmen, our minds were filled wifh fear and dread as we enfered fhe halls of H. H. S. We realized fhaf we ha-d nof been misinformed, when several girls discoveerd wads of chewing gum in fheir hair nof fo menfion 'lhe facf fhaf some of fhe Freshmen boys were unable fo sif down comforfably for several days-reason, belf-line. Frances Haberman, Dorofhy Moser, Mary Faye Moser, Rufh Wilson, Jackie Davis and Don Wefsel enfered our class, which was sponsored by Miss Vaughan and Mr. Pope. On becoming sophomores, we became aware of fhe facf fhaf our presence was essenfial fo fhe school. Ahem! We were glad fo see several new faces, among fhem were Mary Lee Morris, Janice Rogers, Beffy Seabolf, Mary Elizabefh Taylor, Doris Williams, Odell Jordan and Woodard Smifh. Lois Gilbow had once more re-enfered our class. Our class was under fhe capable leadership of Mrs. Dugger and Miss Hoeldflze. By fhis fime our liffle minds had become slighfly warped wifh so much knowledge: fhus if is undersfandable fhaf if was hard fo find anyone who would assume fhe responsibilify of becoming our sponsor. Those affempfing fo reform us were Miss Acoclr, Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Hurn. Af lasf we mef our mafch! Mrs. Pope and Miss Hoeldflce succeeded in keeping us reasonably quief. This year as Seniors we are honored wifh fhe presence of Joe Broolrs, Billy Curry and Beffy Timm. They say fhaf all Seniors are self-assured and have fhe air of being superior. So-we refuse fo be an excepfion fo fhe rule. We have done quife a nice iob of keeping fhe underclassmen and The school in line buf if is clear fhaf wifhouf Mrs. NuHer and Mrs. Royer's undersfanding pafience we would be hopelessly losf amid fhe confusion of graduafion, fhe play, fhe buying of class rings and invifafions. 4 4 Amit ,, H 6Zlu1a.?4f 9'5:z2'f:f'z'4f..,zi 1,fJ 13? ,kffgg A Z 1 - 'xm .' f f X 5 .
