Photographs Jesse Pennell This year’s Varsity Basketball team, coached by Guy Davis, has many outstanding players considering their small size and lack of experience. The team’s quickness, passes, and defense compensate for their weaknes- ses and have proved very bene- ficial. During the first half of the season the team had a win- ning streak placing them high in the Times-Dispatch poll. Dis- trict rivals Hermitage and High- land Springs and regional rivals As Eric Claiborne stretches for the ball, Richard Sledd watches. 2 Center-court scramble. The Henrico “Fantastic Five” are on the alert to a loose ball. George Wythe and Thomas Jef- ferson proved to be the tough- est opponents for the Warrior team. Ricky Adams, Eric Claiborne, Richard Sledd, Dar- rell Jackson, Jerry Frostick and Reggie Johnson are several of the team’s outstanding players who gained help and support from Ken Smither, James Smith, Fontaine Lewis and this year’s new addition, the Goal team. Williams, Gea Gardalt The outstanding JV bas- ketball team, district cham- pions of last season, re- turned playing in their old but tremendous form. Led by Coach Ron Harmon, the group had a distinctive rhythm and unity that brought them together and formed a remarkable team. Coach Harmon felt the team was balanced, therefore playing was easier and the games went smoother. Many of the team members particiated on the ninth grade team last year.
