STUDENTS ACHI Many students achieved positions of recognition at Henrico this year. Janet Baird was named a semi- finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition, excelling thousands of students throughout the coun- try. Also a winner in national competition, Betty Stan- sell proved her prowess in English by winning a Na- tional Council of Teachers of English Achievement Award, assuring her of acceptance by the college of her choice. The Richmond Chapter of the Daughters of the Betty Stansell Janet Baird EVE RECOGNITION American Revolution awarded their annual citizen- ship award to Mary Margaret Garcin for her outstand- ing contributions to the school and community. Henrico’s representatives to the Southern Inter- scholastic Press Association, a convention for high school journalists from several states, were Susan Abbott, Lynda Jeffries, Marilyn Durvin, Alice Hott, and Nancy Burley.
