low “We've got the whole school on our side’’ echoed through the gym at pep rallies this year as Henrico demonstrated the best spirit the school has ever had. Led by the Class of ‘66, class rivalry reached a frenzied peak. Homerooms were plastered with signs and posters as Warriors of every class rampaged to win a school spirit contest judged by the cheerleaders. The seventh grade won; but according to Coach John Brown, there was a terrific improvement in school spirit, which he attributed to the Senior Class. One of the highlights of this year’s pep rallies was the crowning of the ‘‘Homecoming Queen.” ‘Zelda’ Zyglocke, ‘‘Hilda’’ Harvell, ‘“Clementine’’ Clarke, and ‘Pearl’ Perry were among the princesses competing for the title. Through claps and yells the students elected the ‘’girl’’ of their choice. Miss ‘Zelda’ Zy- glocke was chosen as Henrico’s first ‘Homecoming Queen” by an overwhelming margin. At the last scheduled pep rally of the year, Hen- rico’s outstanding band honored the seniors with their Alma Mater. During the Capital District Basketball tournament, a surprise pep rally was held to provide another boost to the Warrior spirit.
