i ia i e u H.H.S. BAND 147 8:00 practices and long hours of extra labor paid dividends as the band received recognition and lavish praise for their outstanding performances during the year. The band’s collaboration with Tucker at the foot- ball game between the two rivals resulted in one of the season’s greatest halftime shows. Other highlights of the band’s fall activities in- cluded the performances at the University of Rich- mond homecoming festivities and the VEA convention. The Henrico musicians were selected to entertain at the Toy Parade and the Tobacco Festival Parade also. Students had an opportunity to see and hear the band at pep rallies, school concerts, and other events. Throughout the year, the band set an example in school spirit and enthusiasm. The sign-making talents of the band were displayed at games and pep rallies, and their artistic abilities earned special commenda- tion in the Christmas basket and room-decoration contests. Along with the chorus, the concert band taped a program for educational television. This special Christ- mas program was aired on December 24. G Tg
