DEFENSIVE LINEUP OFFENSIVE LINEUP IN FIRST YEAR COMPETITION and Jones, Chip Evans went over for the third Henrico score. Walter Zyglocke and the fine defensive team held the Confederates to 70 yards, while the Warriors rushed 219 yards. Chip Evans ran for three touchdowns, and Clarke kicked the extra points, as Henrico won over Prince George by a score of 21-13, for its fourth straight vic- tory. Halfback Carl Jones played another outstand- ing game, adding 103 yards rushing. Henrico’s first homecoming crowd was shown a fine example of the Warriors’ winning play, as Henrico’s spirited team defeated Patrick Henry 10-7. With the score tied until the second half, Clarke kicked a 16 yard field goal for the winning margin. Ina fine defensive game, in which Davey Crockett, Walter Zyglocke, Chipper Collins, and Chipper Clarke were outstanding, Henrico and its greatest rival, Tucker, battled to a 7-7 tie. Warrior school spirit was at aq maximum, as Wayne Dunn intercepted a pass on the 20 and ran it to the 6 yard line, where Chipper Clarke dived over for the touchdown. A hard-hitting and fierce tackling Warrior team, led by Coach John Brown, tied Hermitage by a score of 7-7, before a crowd of 5,000. Henrico’s tremendous moral victory crushed the Panthers’ hopes for the district title. A fumble, recovered by Emory Williams on the Hermitage 13, set the stage for Ron Gibson’s 107 Co-Captains Chipper Clarke, Manager George Miller Doug Moyer, and Walter Zy- glocke touchdown pass to Carl Jones in the second quarter. In the waning minutes of the game, Hermitage man- aged to tie the score, as Henrico closed a successful year. Coach John Brown, who was named one of Vir- ginia’s ten most outstanding coaches, was ably assisted by Coach Colley, line coach; Coach Vitek, backfield coach; and Coach Lowry defensive backfield coach. At the annual football banquet, awards were given to the following for their outstanding play: Most Spirited, Carl Jones; Best Lineman, Doug Moyer; Best Defensive Player, Walter Zyglocke; Best Blocker, Doug Moyer; and Most Valuable Player, Chipper Clarke.
