OPERATION SEA HORSE The First Battle Group, Seventh Cavalry KGARRY OWENSl have become equestrians of a new sort. Joining Seventh Fleet Amphibious Force in a training exercise, they exchanged iron steeds for Neptune's chargers to participate in Operation Sea Horse. The scene of the ioint amphibious landing was the Pohang-Dong area on the East Coast of Korea. The battle group embarked at lnchon, Korea, ll August T959. Loading had lust begun when Typhoon Georgia made her un- welcome appearance. However, the Amphibious Task Force Com- mander, CAPT Charles E. KING, USN, Commander Amphibious Squadron ONE, brought the ships around the Korean peninsula without mishap. On D-Day, lo August T959, with iet fighters of the ROK Air Force streaking overhead, the cavalrymen, displaying the spirit of their renowned forbearers lthe Seventh Cavalry ot Custer famel, scrambled down nets into landing craft to surge ashore.
