'i ' f'x , ' ,O OOO TWELVE YEARS TOGETHER Left to right: Richard Murray, Jean Goodpasture, Kenny Bridal, Dixie Baines, Shirley Dixon, Frances Roberts, Marie Henry, Ada Ruth Miller, and Mr. Aude Thomas. CLASS HISTORY On September 2, 1940, 19 small, frightened, little boys and girls, escorted by their proud mothers, boarded the bright new i940-Al space ship, The Eagle, which is bound for the moon, It will take them 12 long years to complete this once- in-a-lifetime adventure. The I9 passengers aboard this ship were Ray Fisher, Richard Murray, Marie Burge Henry, Dean Goodpasture, Jean Goodpasture, Dixie Baines, Billy Schutkesting, Shirley Dixon, Darwin Driskell, Ada Ruth Miller, Kenneth Bridal, Jimmy Miller, Estelline Murray, Doyle Robinson, Frances Rob- erts, Billy Breedlove, Geraldine Hyden, Darrell Dickerson, and Bonnie Lofton. lt was a wonderful year and we felt like veterans as we finished the first leg of our flight. Before reaching Venus, the second year of this flight, we lost Jimmy Miller, Estelline Murray, Doyle Robinson, and Billy Schutkesting. At the second stop we found LaFern Schrader, Delano Wy- more, and Elbert Thomas patiently waiting to come aboard. As we iourneyed on to Mars, the third year of our flight, we lost Ray Fisher, Bonnie Lofton, and Darrell Dickerson. On Mars, we were ioined by Helen McKinney, Larry Zerger, Bobbie Fisher, Jack Shanklin, Wayne Falkenstein, Cora Lee Cron- ister, Jim Haymaker, and Leonard Lancaster. On our arrival at Saturn, the fourth planet, we picked up Anna Mary Lamb and Shirley Perry but lost Jack Shanklin. By the time we reached the fifth planet, Pluto, we parted with Geraldine Hyden, Larry Zerger, Cora Lee Cronister, and Leonard Lancaster but here we acquired Willie May, Dick Frakes, Nathan Beaman, and Bobbie Gowin. As we moved on out to the sixth planet, Jupiter, we lost Bobbie Gowin. Our stay there, however, was an inspiring one for we gained four good members, Earl Marshall, Betty Roder, Joycelyn Pekarek, and Dalbert Pribyl At the seventh planet, Peggy Berard, Donna Norris, Terry Hurst, Jackie McCully, Shirley Walker, Eugene Wilson, and Charles Rumsey ioined our pas- senger list while Nathan Beaman was our only loss. It was only as we approached the eighth planet that we began to understand what these last seven years of this flight had meant to us. Here on the eighth planet are Anna Jo Cooper, Millie Sue Green, Rex Wehling, Pauline Streck, Leland Berkenbile, and Delphia Burshik Craig waiting to ioin us. Before this flight ended we lost Terry Hurst, Charles Rumsey, Eugene Wilson, and Shirley Walker. We were almost overcome with our own importance as we approached the ninth planet. Billy Wehling, Laddie Fuksa, Gene Taylor, Virgil Kephart, Beatrice Wheeler, Charley Joe Nelson, Vivian Vaverka, Jo Ann Shimanek, and Georgia Ann Roder were added to our number. Before iourneying on to the tenth planet we lost Billy Wehling, Gene Taylor, Dick Frakes, Leland Berkenbile, Delano Wymore, and Helen McKinney. Our stay on the tenth planet was brightened by having Leonard Lancaster ioin us but during our stay we lost LaFern Schrader. On the eleventh planet Roberta Carmen spent one year with us but there we lost Anna Mary Lamb, Millie Sue Green, and Delphia Craig. On reaching the final stop of our iourney Virgil Kephart and Roberta Carmen left us but we picked up Norma Faye McGinnis. Thus we end this long flight with many things said and done. We now look anxiously into the future wondering what it holds for each of us, but of one thing we are sure, these many memories of I2 long, happy years together will be cherished in all our hearts as long as time shall last for us.
