HUGH SKHUUJH UHMEQ The first schoolhouse to be built where Celeste nenkel now stands was a log cabin located below the sethlehem Gemetary.it is not known how long this building was used. In 1907 a new two room building was built in which were tau- ght the first seven grades. hater in l9l4, an addition was made and the first ten grades taught. it was then naned gethlehem. In l9z6 the present Grammar Grade building was built and named the 'CELLSTE HJNAEL SGHUUL' in honor of the county superin- tendent, niss Celeste nenkel. the entire curriculum of eleven grades were then taught, with a teacher for each grade. ln 1955 the present high school building and gymnasium was built. ln the term of l9o7-08 the course of agriculture was first taught. Later in l956-59 Home Econouics was offered. we are proud of our buildings and grounds - - one of the prettiest in the state of North Carolina. Five - - -
