RIGHT: Mrs. Helen Smith Yates. Mrs. Yates, an associate professor in English, received her Master's Degree in English in 1958 from the University of Arkansas. Her special field of knowledge is nineteenth century literature. BELOW: Dr. Helen Hughes. Espe- cially interested in Shakespeare, Dr. Hughes teaches courses in English and fine arts. She received her doctorate in English from the University of Arkansas in 1959. The following fall she came to Hendrix as a member of the humanities area and presently serves as a professor in the English Department. He was awarded his Ph.D. in English on March 13 of 1971 from the University of Tulsa. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin and re- ceived his Master's from East Texas State University.

English LEFT: Mr. Charles Chappell. Completing studies at Emory University, Mr. Chappell came to Hendrix in 1969 as a teacher with his M.A. in English and is presently working on his doctorate. Mr. Chappell is faculty advisor for the Trouhadour and Profile. BELOW: Dr. Walter Moffatt. Upon his graduation from Hendrix, Dr. Moffatt went to Harvard for his Master's Degree and to Princeton, where he received his doctorate in English. He returned to Hendrix in 1948, and as a member of the faculty, now serves as chairman of the humanities area and head of the English Department. ..-...sl...,,l,,,, 5
