If teachers and pupils work together in the classrooms, they cannot be insensitive to overtones of the cultural problems and the issues that come to the forefront in homes and in schools. I wish to congratulate Henderson ville High School in the way it is dealing with these cultural developments in a way that adds to the dignity, freedom, moral stamina, and well-being of this community. Hugh D. Randall The Laureate for many years has been thought of as a mirror to reflect the life, the thought, and the spirit of Hendersonville High School. I am sure that your labors on the 1967-68 Laureate have been pleasant and rich in meaning. Congratulations to you and the entire Senior Class. C. M. King As you try to remember through the pages of this Laureate, may your memories be pleasant of your days at HHS. As you recall friends, classes, and activities, may you feel proud of the record you have made individually, as a class, and as the Student Body in upholding the traditions and standards of the school. I wish for each of you the very best in the years ahead. R. Hugh Lockaby 19

Our school system is operated by Hendersonville City Board of Education whose members are appointed by the City Commission- ers who are elected by the people. Few people realize the amount of effort that the Board devotes to the school system. It is the duty of the Board to engage personnel to maintain buildings and facili- ties, and most importantly, to obtain necessary funds. The Board works through the superintendent, who has direct contact with school personnel. LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Ben Prince; Mr. Henry Marsh; Mr. Hugh Randall; Mr. John Gregory; Dr. James Lutz.
