Capable Officers Tlead Council The Student Council of Hendersonville High School is the governing body of student activities. The main objective is to represent the student body through the homeroom representat ives they have elected, to acknowledge their complaints and requests, but not to dominate. The Council's purpose is to give students a voice in student government with the hope that this will train them for the stand they will take in the future. Under the guidance of their sponsor, Mr. Roberts Brown, and this year's officers the Hendersonville High School Student Council has conducted various projects and money raising activities. Parties, contests, and other social events were sponsored for the enjoyment of the student body. As a service to the individual student, Student Directories were made available. The Roberts Brown council supported campus cleanups and Dramat- Sponsor ics Club production. The annual bottle drive was held and victory pennants were sold. Asin years past, money received from this year's projects was used to help pay the ex- penses of getting a foreign exchange student. Although membership is not confined to Bible students, most class members do support the club through membership and interest. Meeting once a month, after school, the Bible Club offers an opportunity for Christian fel- lowship, inspirational programs to encourage Christian growth and provides opportunites for service to others, both at home and abroad. Various projects carried out this opportunity for service. Through the collection of can- celled postage stamps, Bibles were sent to mission fields in various languages. Many of these stamps also provided food for hungry children. Locally the Bible club makes a yearly practice of providing baskets of food and household necessities for some needy family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. One of the local projects was preparing and presenting devotionals for shut- ins. Scrapbooks and toys were made and sent to the pediatric ward at Pardee Memorial Hos- pital. Returning lettermen and several newcomers should help carry the 'Cats toafine season. Although the big problem and ma- jor concern should prove tobe a limited mound staff, the outlook will be far brighter in the field. All- Conference fielders Tom Blankenship, Ray Handley and Wayne Hoots should take a great deal of strain of the hurlersfor this season. The baseballers will use Berkeley Park for all practice sessions and home games. 126 Varsity Cheerleaders Bearcat Cheerleaders The lively Bearcat cheerleaders in their Red and White worked with unceasing devotion and energy to help promote citizenship, sports- manship, and that ''Fighting Bearcat Spirit at H.H.S.
