HHS, Athletic Director Norman JKeseroll Dear Students, Interscholastic athletics have been likened to atomic energy in that either may possess tremendous power for good or evil, depending on the way in which it is con- ducted. The sports may produce health or they may weaken it. They may produce good citizens or bring forththe thug. Athletic programs may fulfill their true functions asa great medium of education and self-discipline for our youth, or they may be mis- used to glorify a coach or a school or to entertain the public. Let's make our program develop health and good citizens and fulfill the true function of educating students well. The footballers of 1963 played as a team, not as individuals, and their record shows it. Scoring and yardage were divided among several players rather than being concentrated in one star. Much skill was shown by the Cat players, as is evi- denced by the ranks of their members in the Blue Ridge Conference season statistics. Wr, Learcat Symbol of Ft St S Another school year ends, and with it go many happy and unforgettable moments... treasured moments which shall forever be remembered as symbolic of the school spirit for which Mr. Bearcat stands. Within the pages of this yearbook, we have attempted to capture a small part of those memories which make upthe Footprints of 1964. Into this publication have gone long hours of hard work and preparation. However, were it not for Mrs. Atkins, our sponsor, the Delmar Printing Company, and our patient, faithful photographer, Mr. Don Barber, this work could not have been accomplished. We, the staff, have enjoyed giving you the Laureate of 1964 and express our sincere hopes that it will serve as a continuous reminder of the .treasured memorable experiences which formulate the Footprints of 1964. ico. oe ere’ iE PPO OCT CRANSTON PRINT WORKS COMPANY Established 1825 FLETCHER, NORTH CAROLINA BERKELEY MILLS Balfour, North Carolina A Division of Kimberly-Clark Corporation Just About Everyone uses a Product of Kimberly-Clark Every Day.
