The best means of forming a manly, virtuous, and happy people will be found in the right education of youth, and without this foundation every other means must fail. The common school is the greatest discov¬ ery ever made by man; therefore, may it be expanded to its capabilities. And may we never forget the primary objective of our school system is to give every child a free, straight, solid pathway by which he can walk directly up from the ignorance of an infant to a knowledge of the primary duties of a man.
