Quickly the hours and days have turned into weeks and months until the old clock has measured out for us almost another school year—nine golden months which were ours to spend profitably or to idle away. The 1955 LAUREATE is a record of our use of this precious gift of Time—a record of achievements, honars, hard work, good times, and learning at Hendersonville High School. We love our mountains and we're proud of our home town!! Hendersonville, the thriving county seat of Hen- derson County, is a hospitable, friendly, cosmopoli- tan place in which to live. The beauty of the coun- tryside appears as if it had been deliberately land- scaped by some superhuman artist. We’re proud to call Hendersonville and Henderson County our home because of its well-rounded industrial, agricultural, recreational, and cultural development. Hendersonville is surrounded by children’s camps, church assembly grounds, hotels, motels, and way- side resorts. This causes our town to enjoy the repu- tation of being “North Carolina’s Tourist Capital” and consequently draws thousands of visitors from practically all 48 states, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Canal Zone, Puerto Rico and a number of foreign countries. Small, divertified industries which produce print cloth, sanitary gauze, yarn, hosiery, thread, cord, paper boxes, handbags, rugs, brick, automatic office equipment, electrical appliances, and other special- ties thrive here because Hendersonville is in the “Heart of the Industrial South.” Hendersonville and Henderson County is an “Agricultural Wonderland” because bountiful crops of snap beans, pole and lima beans, cabbage, po- tatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, corn, dairy prod- ucts, poultry, apples, flowers, and forestry products come from the fertile fields of surrounding farms. Yes, Hendersonville is our home! We are richly blessed for having been given the opportunity of growing up and going to school in such a well- balanced and friendly community which is recog- nized nationally for its many outstanding qualities. = 2 1. The marching band creates a spirit at the football games plus a great performance at the half- time. This band also represents H. H. S. in many parades.
