I, Y l M0 E T T0 TICIPATE ' alt was late in the summer of 1978 and as I was stroll- ing leisurely home, tired and weary from the long hours of nursing, I spied a new shingle hanging from the doorway that bore the name of Brown Scientific Lab- oratory. I had heard that Gene had become quite fa- mous and it was rumored that he had almost perfected a rocket ship which was capable of reaching Mars. My curiosity was aroused and I decided to stop in and in- quire if the rumors were true. After being sworn to secrecy I was shown through the ship. As we were about to step off the ship my foot caught in a lever near the doorway and the next thing I knew I was whirling through space! Gene and Nell had jumped clear and I was all alone in a strange world. Suddenly there was a "thud." All was still again. Cautiously llpeered outside and what should I see but Pat Hartman! He welcomed me to Greenland Mars and sent one of his little green men off to call Marion and the children. Unknown to the earth people Hartman had been sent to Mars on a special mission. He inquired about all of our classmates of '58. He was glad to hear that: Sallye Tillman has become America's most famous com- poser. Liberace presented to her his golden candelabra. Her picture is quite sure to go into the Hall of Fame. Wayne Mitchell and Donald Woodard have their own partnership. It'ls identified by-Mitchell and Woodard Groceries Inc. jane Montgomery has her own special dress shop in New York. She does her own designing and has become quite famous. Ray Butler is the leading player of the "House of David" professional basketball team. Man is he tricky! Pat Edwards serves as secretary to Walt Disney. That's quite an accomplishment, Pat! Ellis Brewington is a modern farmer in Iowa. He and Elaine and their 3 beautiful children lead a very happy life. Pat Stafford is an old maid and teaches Home Ec. at good old H. H. S. She is quite efficient in filling the place of Mrs. Starnes who has just retired. jack Avant and Taylor Carter have their own dancing school in Chicago. Rock and Roll is no longer popular so they are teaching "The Moon Sender Dance." Roy Taylor King has his own U-Drive-It Company in Nashville, Tennessee. Christine Vaughn has a family of three and is secre- tary of the P.T.A. and president of the Women's Club in her commbnity. Linda Beech and Shirley Shoulders hold prominent positions as models for Lilly Dache' in gay Par'ee. Shelba Story writes the script for the Red Buttons Show. It seems that her practical joking paid off. Bob Ralph has taken Dudley Green's position as sports writer for The Nashville Banner. He's the best yetl Page 16 il Nancy Dotson is executive secretary for Wayne Gib- bons in Hollywood. Wayne has become famous as a producer of western movies. Those inseparable twins, Murrell and Calvin Stamps are founders of the famous Stamps Kennels. Collies are their specialty. Barbara Garrett is an Avon representative for the com- munity of Old Hickory. She and Ray have six girls at home-three sets of twins! Margaret Smith is Physical Education instructor at Tennessee Tech. She has just been promoted to Head of the Phys. Ed. Dept. for freshman girls. Peggy Dotson-oh, pardon me-Peggy Cook is very happy just taking care of Robert and their five handsome children. Being a famous interior decorator and having a hus- band named Donald and two lovely children' to care for all combine to make a mighty busy woman out of Earline Curtis, er-r-r, Dixon. There's no stopping that Glenda Whitaker. She's just won the title of "Champion Ice Skater of the World." However, she's proudest of Robert and their three ador- able children. Carolyn Castle has her own business-The Castle Day- time Nursery. She loves every minute of it and the kids worship her. Wayne Smith is a confirmed bachelor and also a traveling salesman for Royal Vacuum Cleaners. Ann Hale has just been voted "best dressed woman in America." She chooses her wardrobe from the Mont- gomery Designs. joyce Raymer is now the famous New York hair stylist that all the ladies are so excited about. Kenneth Lemons and jean, along with their three wonderful children, are running a prosperous fruit farm in Florida. Hazel Mae Steele and Thelma Frazier have set up their own Nurses Training school in Southern China. They are serving humanity in a great way. Gene Gourley is head football coach at H. H. S. Last year his team set a perfect record. They are looking for big things this season. Dorothy Ann Buchanan, or rather Keele, has just been elected Mrs. America. johnny was so proud of her that he went out and bought her a new mink coat. Sue Ann Garrett, other than being a housewife, has established the Generosity Club of Americas Through this organization, she helps to. educate underprivileged children. The Martians begged me to stay with them but I was lonesome already for good old earth so during the night I stole away in the rocket ship and whirled back to Gene's Scientific Lab. Take this story and believe it or not. There's one thing for sure-never again will I board anything that even looks like it might fly!
