Dr. james Pinkerton, chairman. is one of the largest and fastest growing departments on the Henderson campus. A student can receive' degrees in accounting, man- agement. marketing, general business. economics. and secretarial sci- enue. ln just a few years Dr. Pinkerton hopes to be able to offer a mas- ters degree in general business. Secretarial Science courses include shorthand. typing, office procedures, and business machines. A degree in secretarial science can be earned in two years. Today, business is the field, Three out of every five college gradu- ates enter the field of business in some form or other upon graduation. With Americas fast rate of economic growth and industrial potential. modern students would be wise to investigate the possibilities of a busi- nes career. Though the business department of Henderson at the present time is small. it is recognized as one of the outstanding business depart- ments in the southwest. E+ Dr. Stephenson Dr. Patrick is Each year the Department of Education and Psychology. under Dr. John Treadway. have an average of three hundred new teachers graduate from Henderson State College. The department also has a graduates study division, under the direction of Dr. Waldo Dahlstedt, which bestows about 75 masters degrees in edu- cation each year. The division of education is famous for its use of the Bloc each semester. and that it sends practice teachers to over 20 ..-Q- ' Qi ii 'fl different schools throughout the state of Arkansas. The division also houses one of the largest curriculum libraries in the state. The director of the curriculums library is Miss Amy ,lean Green. The division of psychology conducts several field trips each year. ln the past they have gone to Houston. Texasg Memphis, Tennessee: Little Rock, and Benton. The division of psychology also operates the reading laboratory for slow readers.
