Q X Henderson State Teachers College was established by act of the General Assembly in 1929 as a college for the education and training of teachers for the public schools of Arkansas. It occupies a campus donated to the state, along with some buildings and equipment, by the city of Arkadelphia, which had received it from the Methodist Church which for many years had main- tained a college here. The college was admitted in 1951 to the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, and in 1934 to the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. It is also a member of the American Council on Education. In this twenty-fifth year as a teacher-training institution, Henderson is par- ticipating in the Ford Foundation Plan for Teacher Education.
