HISTDRY l'he 57 58 season IS about over It can be truthfully satd that the last four years shall be a part of every selnors memory for the rematnder of hls ltfe It has been a happy four years startrng back rn the autumn of 54 lt was a lovely September day the sun was out the btrds were stngrng and we were starttng a brand new lrfe that of the hrgh school student The last group of green Freshmen to attend Brrret were now enrollrng rn their respective homerooms Everyone was so confused rt seemcd as the ftrst day would never end The days passed and the frrst class meetmg was called to order We found ourselves rn the nndst of homeroom sponsors rncludtng Mrs Fryer Mlss Farley Mrss Dudley Miss Vaughn and Mr Drcm We took that day rn electrng our frrst class offrcers Darrell Sheffer Prestdent Gary Hollrday Vrce Prest dent and Tooter Leslte Secretary and Treasurer It was a sparklrng tnoment for now our class was complete and our goal set someday SENIORS The year dtd not pass tn vatn though because we had Frances Clark as our own Football Queen and also a representatrve as Basketball Queen Ltnda Dcnton was an attendant to the Chrrstmas Queen The school season of 54 55 was ftlled wtth the rdea of a dream school whrch was gotng to house us The future was rosy to look at but realtty was gotng to be hard to face We trttsscd our homc and btrth place but what could we say agarnst progress We were advancrng We placed representattves tn about every organrzatton Our class offtcers Jlm Scheller Prestdent Brenda Murphy Vtce Presrdent and Sandra Cooksey Secretary and Treasurer started us on our way to stardom Our Football team lncludtng Jerry Smrth Jerry Barron Ray Stone Vtrgtl Toone and Darrell Sheffer won all honors that year tncludtng W K C and State -Xnn Tuley was our attendant to the Homecon mg Queen Rua Sandefur The Basketball team drd excepttonally well also wtnmng Z9 and lostng only 3 Sue Rtppetoe was our candldate for Basketball Queen and Frances Clark our Cheer leader Gettrng more mto the sertous part of ltfe we placed 6 whtz krds rn the Natronal Honor Socrety Sandra Cooksey Sylvta Slaughter Gery Bcard Carol Brann Dale Brown and Jtm Scheller These were our class performers rn the grade department that year The year grew to a close and May 25 we found ourselves marchrng out the front doors for a lrttle rela xatton and summer vacatton June July August September back tn the great front doors we marched agatn But this year to our determtnatton to see us succeed Although the class offtces were domtnated entrrely by grrls that year they dld a splendrd Job Under the leadershrp of Nancy Tanner Prestdent Barbara Laprngton Vtce Pres ldent and Brenda Murphy Secretary and Treasurer we started a most successful year The Football team began tratmng early that year at Camp Brosend Jerry Barron Jerry Smtth Joey Ternes Ray Stone John Hall Larry Cotton Darrell Sheffer Butch Schwartz Doug Gtbson and Charles Lander berng our representattves on the grtdtron They completed a successful season under the gut dance of our Cheerleader Leveda Sandefur Homecotrnng Queen candtdate from the Juuror class was Barbara Laptngton As ttme moved on we advanced tnto the Basketball season Darrell Sheffer Vrrgtl Toone Jerry Smtth Larry Cotton and Dale Brown contrtbuted to the Henderson Htgh Team Frances Clark was chosen Basketball Queen by members of the team Tlns year we added Dlane Orsborn Betty Burton Judy Vanover Donna Hall Martha Lantrrp Sue Rrppetoe and Davtd Reeder to the Honor Soctety The CORON-XTIONV The brggest moment tn the ltfe of 2 lucky people rn our class Nomtnattng vottng preparrng all lead to the btg ntght May 3 As our royal candtdates proceedcd toward the Stage everyone wondered Who ll Would be Our ftrst couple Carol Brann and Butch Schwartz led the way up the atsle of paradtse followed closely by Kay Hansen and Charles Lander Nancy Tanner and Roy Meentemeyer preceeded our new Ktng and Queen Xrrlvtng at the stage they took thetr places on the throne and were crowned the new royal couple of Henderson Htgh School Barbara La ptngton and Jerry Smtth As they all waltzed under the grant blue star how could anythtng but happrness be a part of every Juntor The evemng was wonderful and the Junror Waltzers superb Judy Sutton Brll Haynes Patsy Corbell Larry Cotton Lots Posey Wallace Bull Dorothy Towler Ray Stone Nancy Woodrtng Bobby Gltck Charlye Jo Baker Roger Connolly Ltnda Den on Davtd Reeder Sandra Cook sey Charles lreels Judy Mttchell Jackte Palmore Martha Lantrtp John Boston Elrzabeth Locke Fred Lander Sue Rtppetoe Joey Ternes Drane Orsborn Lyman Cooper Mary Qunrn Jtm Scheller Carole Loyd and John Hall 1 ' ' ' ' I ' .
