KESLER luyi Derdmfivu The careful supervision ot a school this size requires the services ot a strong and responsible leader-one whose integrity and resourcetulness is sufficient to cope with the ever-changing ideas and attitudes of the students. We feel that vve have such a counselor in our principal. His many duties, which include extracurricular activities, as vvell as school work, do not keep him from having time to be keenly interested in any personal problem that a student may have. He has always been able to lead us in the direction that vvill be most beneficial. He has tried in many ways and has succeeded in improving our school and community relations. Thus it is with recognition and deep appreciation of his many services that we dedicate this, the 1956 edition ot our Pep Pac, to Mr. F. D. Kesler, Principal of Henderson High School. Hlass Poem Just as God wrote the Book of Life, He writes for each human soul A book that's meant for him alone As he plays his given role, Until, his story completed, His book, alas, shall close, And some will be true, and some, fiction. 'Til finished, who but God knows? As our class faces graduation, For each a chapter is ending. Few of us know what services The next page may show us rend'ring. One page may make readers laugh, Another fill them with woe. Will yours be charged with adventure? Or shine with the home-tire's glow? No matter how bright or how dull the next, The past chapter can't be forgot. We'll remember happy school days, But try to forget each blot. We've made mistakes in this chapter, We'll make more as years go by. Let's profit by them, if we can. We can, if only we'lI try. A book must have a purpose. What is yours going to be? Perhaps you know, perhaps, not. As time goes by, you shall see, For He who knows each tiny need Of every man and nation Has planned a task for each to do Whate'er may be his station. Only each author can convey The purpose of his book. It is he who first must write it there, For no matter how hard you look, Unless you want the author's message, You'll learn but very little. And though you search 'til the day you die, Your life will remain a riddle. lt's almost time to turn the page That leads to the unknown. Whenever it's seemed too dark to read, One candle always has shone: The candle of God as he writes each page While the plots of your lives unfold- The Light that can make each life a classic, Beautiful, True, and Well-Told. ANNELLA MOORE, Poet 611155 ffisfvry It was a bright day in September 1953, when a group of students were eagerly awaiting a chance to enter Henderson High School for the first time in order to see if there really were an elevator to the third floor. We, the Seniors of 1956, were Those green freshmen. Immediately we began to organize ourselves. We chose as our leaders for this year Tommy Hannon, President, Fabian Broadway, Vice President, and Nancy Acrey, Secretary-Treasurer. Our sponsors were Miss Walser, Mr. Smith, Coach Morrison, and Miss Litaker. ln the fall of 1954 we returned to Henderson High School as Sophomores. This year we elected as our officers Tommy Hannon, President, Ruth Faulkner, Vice President, and Rose Faulkner, Secretary-Treasurer. Our sponsors were Miss Walser, Mr. Smith, Coach Morrison, and Mrs. Cobb. Some of our class had the honor of being elected waiters and waitresses for the Junior-Senior. And then we were Juniors! By this time we felt that we were making some progress. We gave the Junior Play which was entitled The Perfect ldiot. Also we had the job of making money in order to honor the Seniors with the Junior- Senior Banquet. Our theme was An Evening In Paris. When the night of the banquet finally arrived we knew that our efforts and long hours of work and planning had been well spent for we believe our banquet to be the best ever' given. With much enthusiasm and eagerness we finally received our class rings. This year Tommy Hannon was President, Bill Hart was Vice President, Ruth Faulk- ner was Secretary, and Joyce Darnell was Treasurer. This year we lost two of our sponsors but their places were quickly filled by Mrs. Glover and Miss Riddle, Mr. Smith remained with us. The fall of '55 found us once again at Henderson High School. This time we entered as Seniors, the upper classmen of H.H.S. We had many things to look forward to such as the Senior Play, Junior-Senior Banquet, Washington Trip, and, last but not least, graduation. To lead us through our final year we chose Tommy Hannon, President, Barton Tuck, Vice President, Joyce Darnell, Secretary, and Betty Collins, Treasurer, Through the friendliness and sincere understanding of our sponsors Mrs. Glover, Miss Hughes, and Mr. Smith, we completed our Senior year at Henderson High School. As we leave Henderson High School we shall look back and remember all the wonderful times and happy moments that we have had together and never shall we forget our dear Alma Mater.
