The Roxboro Rockets, all cocked and primed for Henderson, were the team that had beaten us so badly the year before, as you all remember. It had been raining all day and it didn't stop until about 6:30 that evening when the Bulldogs took the field. It looked as if they were ankle deep in mud. The held appeared to be an ocean of mud and one could barely tell which team was which they were all so covered with mud. Leading six to nothing through the first three quarters the Bulldogs saw their lead broken very abruptly by a pass play which hit pay dirt in the fourth quarter. Little Sam Watkins with his power- ful 135 pounds of dynamite hit the Rocket line hard all through the game. Sam scored the Bulldogs' only touchdown of the night. Tubby Thomas missed the conversion. Tabott scored for Roxboro and that giant of a ball player, R. M. Tindal, crashed through to block the kick for the extra point and saved the Bulldogs from defeat. The Bulldogs then started another long drive but it was halted on the Roxboro fifteen yard line The game ended in a 6 6 tie when the whistle blew two minutes latt r -5.
