Jed Davis won second place on Bandana | Day for his colorful scarves and first place on Punk Rock Day for his attire. Supporting The Lions We call ourselves a pride of lions, and we are proud of the support we give each other. A week-long special event this year was Spirit Week directed by the Student Council. It was a fun- filled time of activity that everyone could get involved in. One project was the class lions where each student signed to show his class’s support of the team. The Student Council also planned Red and Blue Day when everyone was to wear school . colors. Bandana Day had students and faculty tied up with bandanas everywhere. Lion Day was a challenge to see who could attach the most Lions to himself. The hit of the week had to be Punk Rock Day which made one think we were having a Hallo- ween Carnival. Even the faculty joined in (after they found out what “punk’’ was), and some pretty outlandish costumes were worn. There was everything from plastic trash bags cinched with gold belts to multi-colored Nikes. The more adventuresome sprayed their hair in a wide array of colors. The Homecoming Pep Rally ended the school day, but many stayed on for the car parade through downtown. The entire week built up to the Homecoming Game which climax- ed the week with a 21-0 victory for the Lions. Lions, lions, lions cover Derinda Brooks who was a strong contender for the most lions on Lion Day. Many of these balloons were floating downtown after the car parade that followed the Homecoming Pep Rally.

Any teacher who can wear a mini skirt left over from the seven- ties, attach 27 lion emblems to herself, then sit in the hall in a snug sack covered with lions deserves something. Even before she did this, the an- nual staff decided to dedicate this volume of the Lions Den to Miss Joe Hudson for her evident school spirit. Her enthusiasm is obvious since she was also voted as having the most school spirit by the seniors in a fun faculty Hi-Life Poll. A familiar face at sporting events, Miss Hudson is not con- tent to be merely a spectator. This year she supervised the construc- tion of a gigantic spirit sign placed Joe Hudson Dedicatee on Hwy 64 for the football team to see as they were on their way to the bi-district playoffs. Miss Hudson teaches a variety of social studies courses from world history to sociology, depending on her schedule. She supports her students in the Classroom as well as on the play- ing field and is always quick to give compliments, encourage- ment and good constructive Criticism. Whether in or out of class she is always there with a smile and cheerful word. So it is with respect and sincerity that we say — Miss Hudson, we think you are Top of the Line. 17
