This year the junior Lions played against AA competition. Coaches Bolton and Holt devoted much of their time to turn out perhaps the best team in junior High history. Showing class and power in every department, the Cubs had little trouble in winning all their regular season games. To climax a great season, the Cubs traveled to Dallas to tangle with the strong High- land Park junior High team, that was also undefeated. Playing their hearts out the young Cubs fought the Red Raiders to a standstill, only to lose Zl-12. They were outweighed, but were never out-played. Many classed these two teams as the strongest in the State, in junior High circles. The Cubs defeated Kilgore in an over-time game the first time they met. Kilgore disputed the decision and the game was protested. When the two teams met again, Henderson clearly defeated Kilgorep However, Kilgore demanded a play-off. The Cubs, in order to get into other activities, offered to share the title with them, and Kilgore accepted their offer.
