I u I y T06 CLASS The junior class under the leadership of Jerry Peyton, president, Doris Scott, vice-president, Carrie Mae Royster, sec- retary, and Ace McCarty, treasurer spon- sored the traditional activities --Junior- Senior Barbecue and the Sadie Hawkins Dance. However, they incorporated a new idea into the extracurricular program--a class play. The cast of hard working and successful thespians consisted of James Freeman, Sara Jane Stanley, June Boone, Brenda Day, Diane Edds, David Book, Judy Mattingly, Bill Beasley, Billy McClure, and Ace McCarty. Finally the year arrived. Determined to make it aiost successful one, we re- elected Jerry Peyton along with Billy McClure, Sally Tucker, and Ronnie Williams class officers. Diane Edds was elected basketball queen with Judy Utley and Brenda Day, her attendants. Judy alsos served as FFA Sweetheart attendant. Brenda Day and Mary Jo Butler were chosen atten- dants to the football queen. Janet Golday, Sally Tucker, and Judy Utley, our faithful cheerleaders, HISTORY 107 contributed significantly to the unprece- dented success of the football team. Many of the team were seniors ----- McClure, Griffin, Pe ton, Kellen, McCarty, Sutton, anJHopkins. Paul Sutton, Doug Cobb, Donnie Slaughters, and Jerry Hopkins helped to make our basketball team another success. Mary Evans earned recognition for the school and herself by winning the Soil Conservation Essay Contest, also she received recognition in the National English Scholarship Examination. Yes, it was a memorable year--but it could not be better remembered than the senior year. We seniors now realize that we have experienced four wonder- ful, fun-filled years.
