It provides its members with opportunities for developing personal growth and professional competence, and also gives the opportunity for participating in cooperative work on the problems of the profession and the community. The group performs for various events throughout the area and gives a iazz concert each spring. Another function of the band is to act as a performance laboratory for those who wish to learn to write and arrange in the iazz idiom.
