HILLTOP HIGHLIGHTS Volume XIX 1981 Henderson Central Co-Editor—Vicki Fargo Co-Editor—Chris Cook Treasurer—John Piddock Secretary—Elizabeth Spihaci Foreward The Henderson Central School Yearbook Staff is very proud of the results of the 1981 yearbook. Due to the efforts of the yearbook staff we feel we were able to improve this edition of the yearbook for the students and the community. We have added sixteen pages to this years book. We have also put together a totally unique layout, dif- ferent from any past yearbook at Henderson Cen- tral. We have tried to include many more action shots of the students in our school. We would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Pooler for putting so much of his time into this yearbook. It was his first year being involved with the yearbook and we must say, he deserves our appreciation. We would also like to thank the many people in the school and community that supported us with their advertisements and patron donations. These contributions allowed us to publish this edition of the Hilltop Highlights. A number of the Seniors have worked very hard on this issue, so as to produce a yearbook that they can be remembered by. This shows that they have the determination to produce some- thing that they, and hopefully everyone else in our school, can treasure and be proud of. Of our original nineteen Mark Ditch, Vicki, Clint, John, Elizabeth, Barbara, Sherry, and Jeff White remain. This year we were taught to count, say our ABC's and print our names. We moved on to the first grade with Miss Steven's as our teacher. This year we added Darcey, Michelle, and Kirk to our class. Then it was on to Mrs. Fishel's second grade. It was here we were taught about the world of music by Mrs. Fishel's music ability. In Miss Hough's third grade we picked up Mark Smith and Phyliss. We've never forgot- ten the day Phyliss joined our class. Miss Hough asked if she knew anyone and a little voice uttered Kirk Whitney and everyone started laughing. Kirk found out that he had a few words in his vocabulary which he shouldn't have had for Miss Hough had to wash out his mouth with soap. Then it was on to Mrs. Heath's fourth grade where we picked up Gordon and Jeff Youngs. We had been warned it was going to be a rough year and it was just that. Mark Ditch even had to sit on Mrs. Heath's lap. After we became fifth graders Mr. Wyand kept us very quite by writing ''Blabber Mouths. Vicki became known as Molly Muscles for beating up on the boys. David and Kim joined us in Mr. Carolyn's sixth grade. We considered ourselves real cool this year and the bullies of the playground. As we entered seventh grade the teachers had been warned we were a troublesome group. Debbie joined our class this year and soon after became known as pigeon eggs. John demonstrated for us and Coach Wheeler how to light a bunson burner and managed to singe his hair and eye lashes. In eight grade we settled down and began to raise money for our senior trip. We went to Albany this year. As ninth graders Mr. Pooler became our class advisor. In tenth grade Mr. Mundt became our class advisor. We struggled through two paper drives, had our first dance, and began our Christmas paper sale. In eleventh grade Mr. Pooler again became our advisor and has remained. We sponsored dances and had two car washes. Would you believe no one showed up at one of them! We also sold HCS T-Shirts and shorts to raise money, and continued to sell Christmas paper. At last we've become seniors. We've survived through our fighting with each other to having money for about only half of the class to go on a trip. But with our candy sales, magazine sales, and Tom Watt we at least have made enough money to go to The Big Apple. We even managed to sell the rest of our Christmas paper! The class of 1981 would like to thank everyone who has helped us and given us our memories of the past thirteen years. 12 ' s DARCEY AYLES MAJORS: Business, Homemaking Varsity Tennis 1,2,4; Chorus 1,2. The 1981 yearbook staff is pleased to dedicate the nineteenth volume of the Hilltop Highlights to Dick and Ann Fargo. These two people are not only parents, but also dedicated employees of the Henderson School district. Hen- derson is very fortunate to have two such fine bus drivers. Dick started driving bus in September of 1965 until June 1966. He started driving again in February 1972 and has remained here the past nine years. Ann started driving bus in September of 1973 and has remained here the past eight years. The HCS students are very thankful to have such expert drivers to operate their buses, and they know that they'll get where they're going safely. This year the HCS bus drivers were presented with a Pupil Transportation Safety Citation from the State Education Department. To show our appreciation for the fine work done by these two dedicated employees the 1981 yearbook staff proudly presents this volume of the Hilltop Highlights to two wonderful people, Richard and Ann Fargo.
