Hilltop Highlights Volume X 1972 e i -■ Henderson Central School Henderson, New York Foreword To behold a whole new day aborning. To heed the call of dawn's creation. To peer inward and see soul. To gaze outward and see hope. To feel new meaning in the life you know. To wonder at the life you are about to know. To quest for who you are and what you are to be. To find purpose in being. To sense challenge in becoming. To imagine yourself a star in the heavens. To approach the unknown and ask why. To confront the unknowable and ask why not. To see the adventure in flights transitory. To see eternity in truths immutable. To rejoice at the rise of the sun. To seek light where there is dark. To seek peace where there is strife. To embrace dear values. To seize the present. To chart the future. To find summer in winter, sun in rain. To assert your place in tomorrow. To love to live. To live to love. To laugh. To cry. To be. To become. 2 Reprinted with permission of Cazenovia College Cazenovia, New York. All rights reserved. FISHEL the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime (Adlai Stevenson) Eleven years ago Blanche C. Fishel, a talented music teacher and a superior band conductor, joined the Henderson Central School faculty. The staff of HILLTOP HIGHLIGHTS takes pleasure in dedicating its 1972 year- book to this superior elementary teacher, whose zest for teaching matches her zest for life. Mrs. Fishel, sensitive to the needs of children, thinks of and works with her students as individuals. She has special spots and special devices both in her room and in her heart for the little ones who can go faster as well as for those who take a little longer. Her classroom is a fun-place. Charlie, the skele- ton, and Sam, the synthetic man, make learning ana- tomy a delight. How a tune on her violin sets the youngsters' feet a-tapping and their voices a-caroling! So subtle are her teaching techniques that her students know not whether they are learning lessons or playing games. Her artistic flair is evident in her inviting reading nook and on her attractive bulletin boards. Everything beckons this dedicated teacher's charges toward learn- ing, and her charges respond happily to her measured blend of discipline and laxity. We salute you, Mrs. Fishel, for you exemplify the wisdom in DESIDERATA: Keep interested in your career; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. 4 Seniors MARIANNE AGACIEWSKI Polack Major: Homemaking Cheerleader 1; Student Council 4; Yearbook Staff 3,4; Girls' Sports 1,2,3,4; Scorekeeper 2,3,4; HCS Roundup 3; Class Treasurer 2,3,4; Homemaking Award.
