Foreword At the beginning of every new decade there is a strong tendency to gaze into the well known crystal ball in an attempt to prophesy the future. We, too, are tempted to make predictions and forecasts as to what the future has in store. But hold on. Is is the function of a school annual to predict the future or is it our role to review the past? A sober analysis convinces that the latter is correct. Our task is to portray the persons and events outstanding in this past school year. For mark, by the time you have this issue of the yearbook, the 1969-70 year will be nearly over. So we are hopeful that Volume VIII of Hilltop Highlights will provide an ac- curate and reasonably complete record of the school year fast drawing to a close. We would like to believe that this yearbook will bring forth some pleasant memo- ries-memories you will cherish more and more as time goes on. Leave the prognostications to the experts: we’d just like to have you see what life was like at Henderson Central School in the year 1969-70. The Staff 2
