FOREWORD Each year the school annual attempts to portray an accurate cross section of life at Henderson Central. In addition, the yearbook fo- cuses attention on the new features of our school life. This year for the first time we have engaged in an exchange student program. Launched by the Student Council in the spring of 1967 and utilizing the facilities of International Fellowship, Inc. of Buffalo, N. Y., this school sent Elaine Yerden, class of 1968, to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in the summer of 1967. This marked a first event in our school's history. On December 28, 1967, Carlos Roberto Neufeld, known as Robert to his classmates, arrived from Sao Paulo to attend Hender- son Central for the next two months. During his stay in this country Robert lived with the DcWitt Hubbards. Already our venture into the exchange student program is ac- claimed a success, and the Student Council has been asked to con- tinue its sponsorship of a Henderson student during the summer of 1968. Pictured on this page are Elaine and Robert. They travelled but all of us profited from the experience. Yes indeed, there IS some- thing new under the sun—the same sun that shines on Henderson, New York, and Sao Paulo (population: 3 million), Brazil. We salute the exchange student program and trust it will continue for many years. 2
