FOREWORD A yearbook is a record of the past year, and in the pages of this fifth edition of Hilltop Highlights we have tried to record a portion of our school life during the 1966-67 year. Within these pages you will see our people in the news, a cross section of our activities and a special section devoted to the seniors. Herein pictured are the people who make our school run, along with both formal and informal shots of those for whom it runs. Yearbook time is a time for reminiscing. A look into the past of our Alma Mater reveals that just 35 years prior to the issuance of this yearbook, April 4, 1932, to be exact, Henderson Central School first opened its doors to the youth of our community. Since then some 323 have graduated from high school, of whom approxi- mately 71% earned Regents Diplomas, 301 earned Preliminary Certificates until their discontinuance in 1959. One hundred thirty- seven older students have earned their MV28S Blue Cards in driver education since this course was added in 1957. But none of the staff who served the new Henderson Central School back in 1932 re- mains. Change is apparent in any school's history, and ours is no ex- ception. But certain aspects of a school, its basic concepts and ideals, must remain constant. What will the next 35 years bring? The only thing of which we can be certain is the transition into a brand new century—the 21st. It is the sincere wish of the staff that those who may possibly read this yearbook in 2002 will find an accurate record of H.C.S. for the year 1966-67. 2
