For the benefit of all students, the guid- ance department maintains a large amount of research material on various colleges and universities throughout the country to which the student may refer. Also, this de- partment has a special staff that serves to help students obtain part or full-time em- ployment appropriate to their training in a specific field. English department, under the chairman- ship of Miss Barth, does much to establish a more basic view of the English language and literature. To promote this understand- ing of our language, students were given tickets in their English classes for a Shakes- pearean play presented by Hofstra College in March. An excursion trip to Connecticut in May to see the Shakespearean Festival also proved beneficial to both students and English teachers who attended. The citizenship-education department is Q' Y-v 'Qi
